Chickens are a fairly obvious "neutral topic". Nobody really has strong opinions either for or against the average chicken, or acting like one. It's low-risk, which is everything for stage hypnosis--and for people who cannot risk abreactions during a show.
Or, you know, it's an NLP-wordplay game of the most obvious sort: calling the audience out on its lack of courage. That's also a thing, simply because being outrageous also works.
But hey, it isn't like I get to DO hypnosis anymore, now is it? :p
