if you want to be a latex sex doll....

this is one site where you'll need to go to get the hoods.

here

the sites in german but as its mainly photo's its not too hard to suss out whats going on. they do a curious range of molded latex hoods. the most doll like is the one illustrated here. i personally like the white faced one with the shaped flapper haircut. now if they'd do a molded rubber wig i'd order on immediately...

Mmm, I dunno. :"> I'll pass myself, I know some folks dig the cheap blow-up-doll look, and the round rubber mouth, when well done can be a turn on, but...

Personally, I prefer those hoods with that heart-shaped clear bit, where the whole head and face are still covered, but the face is visible under a clear-coat of gloss....in a stylized way of course.

But to each his/her own, you know?

I agree Bradley, although Gumena make some cool hoods and the artist who inspires them, Gernot, is one of my favs.

We just received our newest dolly hood in the mail, exactly like the one you describe Bradley. When I get some snaps of it, I'll post them in the dollcollective...

btw, have you checked out the Dolly photos that I posted there today? Hope you dolls and dollmakers like them.

Ya know.. I'm about on the most opposite side of the spectrum as it gets from the unrealistic mask in the example. I'm more your fan of the hyper-realistic masks coming out of Japan nowadays.

There's a conversation going on concerning that over at Gynoid Central where someone speaks about the 'Uncanny Valley' effect. The one where the more realistic a human-like construct becomes, the more disquieting it becomes cos it doesn't give off unconscious body language. It sets our instincts on edge as animals.

Maybe it's me. But I don't seem to suffer the U.Valley effect at all. If anything, I welcome the perfected yet lifelike Human form that most computer animators have to dial back to keep their characters from being creepy. (Like in Final Fantasy and the Shrek movies.)

You have to wonder really. Is the desire to doll up an attempt to get the best of both worlds? While the masked person isn't going to give off nearly any facial gesture or body language, the body itself still breathes and sways, disarming the U.Valley effect found in what I would assume to be the majority.

I also wonder what might seem to be responsible for the whole frozen smiling dolly meme in Dollers, Robophiles, Statue lovers and Mind control types. Might it be the edvent of the frozen image of women, or the opposite sex in photography? Historically, the photographic erotica thing in its mass production form is relatively new. So really, is the advent of the living doll fetish or the 'stone faced' bombshell really that surprising in an age where most people's first accquaintance or sight of a nude person in a sexual way is a nudie magazine? Airbrushed to flawless perfection after the shoot where the model is primped and made up to a huge degree already.

Just a comment about this mask and the whole frozen smile thing... I reckon that the appeal of this and similar masks lies in it's humiliation factor. Being that it is so dehumanizing, it would be a shock to see oneself looking like, well, some kind of stylized rubber clown creature. While this particular kind of mask really doesn't do much for me, as a dominant, I can understand it's appeal.

As for the frozen smile. In this day and age of feminism, it is sort of taboo for a woman to want to be a living Barbie Doll. It plays against everything young women are taught in Western, industrialized culture. To command a woman, through hypnosis or otherwise, to wear a big smile as they in a hyperfeminized and submissive way is like "taunting" the powers that be, and subverting the standard programming. It turns mores and sexual politics on end, transforming the powerful modern woman into a submissive doll that exists only for beauty and pleasure. Yum!
