Marketers already figured out that "sex sells" and latex is the new sexy way to clothe a female... and a catsuit is quite the tease completely revealing her form so she's kinda naked but not really. And of course latex loves cameras and bright lights and it shines and reveals form much the way a well waxed auto body does.
You'll see more and more of it used for marketing.

Oooo, that's Legs & Co, the poor offshoot of the original TOTP dance troupe, Pan's People. Latex was not an alien fabric to them.
